East Point Academy Middle school students earn top PSAT scores

West Columbia, SC – East Point Academy is recognizing over two dozen 8th grade students for achieving high scores on the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT 8/9). The highest score possible on the PSAT 8/9 is a 1440.

 

28 East Point Academy 8th grade students took the PSAT in October of 2022. Those students scored a mean total score of 970. The scores are the total of both evidence-based Reading and Writing, and Math sections.  

 

East Point Academy had 56% of students meet both benchmarks in English, Reading, Writing and Math, compared to 29% nationally. 89% of students met the English, Reading, Writing benchmark compared to 51% nationally. In math, East Point Academy had 56% of students meet the benchmark, compared to 35% nationally. 

 

Overall scores of East Point Academy students ranged from 680 to 1410. 13 of the East Point Academy 8th grade students scored over a 1000.

The students pictured were a part of the 28 that met or exceeded both benchmark standards. Assistant Principal, Bruce Moseley, states, “Congratulations to all of our students who took the PSAT! You all make us so proud!”
